Definición
Refers to the various ceramic styles produced on the Korean Peninsula. Unglazed earthenwares dominated prior to the Goryeo Dynasty (10th-14th century), but from around the 10th century onward high-fired porcelain were also common. The major thrusts of later Korean ceramics centered on celadon, buncheong, and white porcelain. Celadon dominated during the Goryeo Dynasty, followed by buncheong as a transitional style. From the 15th century, white porcelain became the dominant type of ceramics. Except for some early celadon, Korean porcelain was typically produced by biscuit-firing before glazing and then refiring in reduction. Overglaze was not used, and decoration was universally applied under the glaze.
