Definición

Refers to the style of ceramics of the Goryeo Dynasty (918–1392) produced in the southwestern region of the Korean Peninsula, corresponding to the Jeolla-do region. Developed on the basis of earlier earthenware, they differ from central-western region wares influenced by China in terms of kiln structures and vessel styles. Centered on celadon production, the area reached its peak with jade-green celadon and sanggam cheongja (inlaid celadon). Unlike the early celadons of the central-western region, the standard practice here involved biscuit-firing before glazing and refiring.
