Definición

Refers to a buncheong style produced from the late 15th to early 16th century at kilns in Hakbong-ri on Mt. Gyeryongsan in Chungcheongnam-do (province). While inlaid buncheong and inhwa buncheong were also made there, iron-painted wares predominated and today define the style. Vessels were coated with white slip and painted with motifs such as fish or floral designs using iron oxide pigment. The strong contrasts between the white slip and dark pigment and the bold expressive patterns are all characteristic features.
