Definición
Refers to a ceramic style of the Joseon dynasty defined by white porcelain clay bodies coated in a bluish-green glaze. In Korean, it is also called âbaektae cheongyuja” (white-bodied, celadon-glazed ware). Unlike the iron-bearing clay used for Goryeo celadon, Joseon celadon employed white porcelain and is characterized by a thick coating of glaze. Production was centered at the official kilns in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, notably Usan-ri and Beoncheon-ri, mainly in the early period of the dynasty. Most surviving examples are bowls and dishes, with some jars also produced. Small-scale production continued into the mid-17th century.
