Definición

Refers to a royal ceramic style produced at the kilns in Beoncheon-ri in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do (province). It followed the style originated at Usan-ri and Doma-ri. Wares produced included Joseon celadon and inlaid white porcelain, but plain hard-paste white porcelain was the primary type. Uniquely, ritual vessels with animal forms decorated with cobalt or iron painting were also produced, with the cobalt underglaze showing a lighter blue tone compared with that of the late 15th century. White porcelain inscribed with Chinese characters denoting heaven, earth, black, and yellow, emblematic of the official court kilns of the first half of the Joseon Dynasty, was also manufactured.
