Definición

Refers to a ceramic style from the kiln site at Geumsa-ri in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do (province), which was a royal kiln that operated in the 18th century (during the Joseon Dynasty). The wares produced include starkly white porcelain with a higher degree of whiteness than earlier periods, as well as white porcelain decorated with simple floral motifs rendered in cobalt underglaze. Bowls and dishes were made with tall foot rings, while some jars and bottles were enlarged and given faceted exteriors for decorative effect. Large round jars over 40 centimeters in height, known as “dalhangari” (moon jars), were also produced.
