Definición

Refers to a ceramic style produced from the mid-15th to 16th centuries in Dudong-ri, Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do (present-day Du-dong, Jinhae-gu). Alongside a small quantity of buncheong sagi (buncheong ware) with stamped design and slip-brushed buncehong, white porcelain was also made. The white porcelain from this site often contains impurities and was fired using the stack firing method. It is characterized by a thick application of ivory-tinted glaze, distinguishing it from contemporaneous white porcelain produced at the Bunwon (the official court kilns). Most of the vessels produced were bowls and dishes. Some examples resemble Korean tea bowls (Ido chawan) that were highly valued in Japan after the 16th century.
