Definición

Refers to a bottle with a flat, oval body and a short spout protruding from one side. It is so named for its resemblance to “jara”, the softshell turtle. Unlike ordinary bottles, its side spout allowed it to be set on its side to hold and pour liquids. A small number were produced in Korea in buncheong sagi (buncheong ware), celadon, and white porcelain during the first half of the Joseon Dynasty in the 15th and 16th centuries. They were decorated with a variety of techniques, including inlay, stamping, and iron painting.
