Definición

Refers to a type of large white porcelain jar created during the mid- to late Joseon Dynasty. Its pure white, rounded form resembles a full moon, hence the name "dalhangari," meaning “moon jar.” They were mainly produced at the Bunwon (the official court kilns) in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do (province), which supplied wares to the royal court. Due to their large size, they were crafted by molding the upper and lower hemispheres separately and then joining them. This often left a visible seam or slight irregularities in the form, with the resulting lack of perfect symmetry becoming a defining characteristic of the ceramic form.
