A polyethylene glycol in the form of an odourless and non volatile hygroscopic liquid characterised by two hydroxyl groups and three ether linkages. It is a mixture comprising some high and low molecular weight glycols, but consisting mainly of tetraglycol. It has been used in conservation to stabilize waterlogged archaeological wooden objects.
