Goryeo celadon
Definición
Refers to the major ceramic style of the Goryeo Dynasty (918â1392), one characterized by green-toned glazes. The usual clay body contains trace amounts of iron, giving it a grayish-white color that distinguishes it from the pure white body of contemporaneous porcelains. The glaze ranges from green to bluish hues, with the finest color termed "bisaek" (jade green) in Korean. The translucency of the glaze allows the effective use of inlay decoration. Although most wares were undecorated, various techniques were employed, including incising, relief carving, openwork, painting with iron or copper pigments, and slip painting. The greatest artistic and technical refinement was achieved in the 12thâ13th centuries, while in the 14th century vessels tended to have thicker walls and turned yellowish in tone.

Goryeo ceramics (ceramic style)
Definición
Refers to ceramic styles created on the Korean Peninsula during the Goryeo Dynasty (918â1392). Goryeo ceramics were greatly influenced by Chinese ceramic technology around the 10th century, but by the 12th century original traditions had been established in jade-green-hued celadon, inlaid wares, and sculptural vessels. Jade-green-hued celadon, inlaid wares, and sculptural vessels. The Goryeo ceramics being created in the regions of Gangjin and Buan reached their peak in the 12th and 13th centuries, and similar styles soon spread throughout the country. While celadon predominated, small quantities of white porcelain were also produced. By the late 14th century (the end of the Goryeo Dynasty), celadon production declined and buncheong emerged.

Goryeo white porcelain (ceramic style)
Definición
Refers to the style of white porcelain wares produced during the Goryeo Dynasty (918â1392). Though made in smaller quantities than celadon in this era, their forms and types generally paralleled celadon development. Bodies are whitish and glazes often show a faint bluish tint, resembling Chinese qingbai ware. Produced starting around the 10th century in the central region of Korea, Goryeo white porcelain was mainly made in Gangjin and Buan during the 12th and 13th centuries. Inlaid decoration was sometimes employed. It was also produced in areas such as Yanggu in Gangwon-do (province) and the Mt. Gwanaksan area in Seoul. Goryeo-era white porcelain was relatively soft-bodied compared to the hard-paste porcelain of the Joseon Dynasty. Vessels such as a bowl with the inscription of "the 24th year of the Hongmu era" demonstrate the characteristics of white porcelain in the late 14th century.
